In Cyprus, even though there exist many locations
fit for flying, in our Web page we only give reference to16 of them. These are
marked on the Cyprus map above and can be mouse selected for more information.
As far as these locations are concerned, we would like to point out to pilots
that are considering visiting an area, that they should take note of possible
restrictions, since many of them are not suited for beginners.
If you decide to go cross country flying, you may
choose to try the South side of the Troodos mountain range, without much restriction
in relation to international regulations. Taking off from the North side is generally
considered easier than the South side, but much care should be taken on your direction
because of accidentally crossing into the Turkish occupied part of Cyprus.
In general the pilot should be well aware of his
flying area, since every area has it’s own restrictions. It is much wiser to be
accompanied by a local pilot in location that you are not so accustomed to.
For Emergencies, the telephone number that you
can use is 199, which you can use throughout Cyprus. You can also use the local
Telephone directory to find the telephone numbers for the local Police Station
and the closest First Aid facility.
In our information list for each site, you can
also find interesting information for other non-flying related matters on the
area. Cyprus is an established tourist destination, so we thought it would be
nice to include places of interest close to each site.
Although this site is not intended to be used
commercially, in order to help the foreign visitor to find a place to stay in
the area if he/she wishes, we regularly recommend suitable places that can offer
accommodation. For these recommended places, these are only intended to help visiting
pilots. This reference is usually limited to places that promote agrotourism,
and are not financially supported by their owners in any way.
